Years of Experience With Neurodiversity
The Chief Operating Officer, Erin Ushakov-Zhang, has long worked in special education. Her passion and true love was working with people on the autism spectrum. She is also neurodiverse, and so are her children. This has always been more than a job for her. It is a passion. She has approached the issue of how to best support her community in many different ways. She has been a teacher. She was a board member for a nonprofit that ran support groups for what was then called “Asperger’s Syndrome.” It seemed difficult to move the needle on many issues that plagued this community – loneliness, low employment rates, difficulty in personal relationships.
Recently she started working at a nonprofit for those with Downs syndrome. They provide classes and coaching on finding jobs and building employment skills. However, the participants are still waiting for others to give them a chance. She wants to reverse that. In truth, many businesses look at the neurodiverse and see extra costs in accommodations.

Future Plans
Here at No Apologies for Autism, we are fighting to prove we are “worth it.” We set up a 501c approved nonprofit. Our main goal is to first, not apologize, mask or cater. Our first major project is building an entrepreneurial excellence center, The JMS entrepreneurial workshop, where we help anyone with neurodiversity or developmental disability – with the help of family or a coach, depending on independence levels, to build a business of their own. We will provide practical internships and business workshops and a website and physical space to sell items they create.

Services At Our Center
- We will train future entrepreneurs with neurodiversity, such as Autism, Down syndrome, certain mental health conditions- that make accessing traditional employment routes very challenging.
- We will support them in their own ideas, be it Amazon shops, Etsy shops, YouTube channels, etc.
- We will highly encourage families and job coaches to participate in this program as well to help with components like business legalities and taxation. We will also help participants set up nonprofits if they like.
